SOUTHERN DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP.
(To the Editor.}
Sir, —It was with surprise I read in your Association football notes in your issue of the 29th that Kaponga had won (by default of Manaia) the Southern Division Championship,'with a margin of 3 points over Hawera. This is rather counting their chickens before they are hatched, as the Hawera men have still another match to play. And, judging by their form during the season, this would, in all probability mean another two points for them, thus leaving Kaponga with a lead of one point (not three).. It is rather a pity, in the interest of the ganie in Southern Taranaki, that Manaia should have forfeited at such a critical point in the competition to Kaponga, as a draw in that match, in my opinion, would have altered the destination of the Cup.
