PERSONAL ITEMS.

At the annual meeting of the Stratford Dairy Company, Mr R. Dingle was re-elected chairman of directors.

Professor W. T. Mills, who has been visiting North Taranaki, was a passenger for AVellington by this morning's express train.

( In Friday's Star it was stated that "Mr G. E. Thorburn, creamery manager, had been appointed postmaster at Meremere, vice Mr J. R. Curie." The words "creamery manager" were, we regret, erroneous, as Mr Thorburn is manager of the Melrose Co-operative Cheese Factory at Meremere.

Mr John Searle, an old and highly esteemed resident of this district, was found dead in bed at his residence, Fitzroy, on Monday morning (says the Taranaki Herald). Mr Searle was one of the old settlers of the district, having arrived, from England (per Canterbury) when a lad of 18 years of age. Amongst his businesses he kept the Eltham Hotel for a number_ of years. On his retirement he went to New Plymouth, and has resided at Fitzroy. ever since. P was a keen business man, very honourable and highly respected by all who knew him. Mrs Searle predeceased him only a few months ago, expiring suddenly in one of the hot baths at Tt Aroha. Mr Searle was 67 years of age.
