THE LIEDERTAFEL.

CONCERT ON WEDNESDAY

Assiduous practices are being held by the chorus, and their work on Wednesday night will be a feature of the first concert. The choruses chosen are of a varied character. "The Chapel," by Kreutzer and "When the Swallows Homeward Fly," by Franz Abt, are pretty and tuneful, "The Christian Martyrs," by Db Rille, is a heavier ■work, and has several fine dramatic effects. "Hark! the Merry Drum," by Krugh, is a vigorous march" and has -■some striking passages. The vocal soloist will be Miss McEnroe, a Wellington soprano, who is very highly spoken of. Mr G. Buckley, champion cornet player, will give a selection, and Mr George Swan, of Wanganui, will recite. The committee hope to have a crowded louse. The dress circle will be reserved for honorary members. The full programme will appear to-morrow.
