PALMERSTON N., July 28. The half-yearly general meeting of the New Zealand Flax-workers' Union did not deal with the question of cancelling the affiliation to the New Zealand Federation of Labor, as anticipated. The question was held over for a special general meeting, to be held next month. There was a keen election for the presidency, with three candidates. Mr Gavin Stone, the late acting secretary, headed the poll. The other officers are: Secretary, Mr Robinson (re-elected); treasurer, Mr Mclvor; vice-presidents, held over. The meeting decided by a majority of five votes not to admit the Press.
