NORMANBY-OKAIAWA.

At the meeting of the Hawera County Council on Saturday a letter was received from the county solicitor, enclosing a communication from Mr H. Halliwell, solicitor, with reference to the roads in the Normanby Town Board district. Mr Halliwell said he had been requested by the Normanby Town Board to suggest that, pending some determination as to which body is responsible for the maintenance of the county roads in the Town Board's district, an arrangement Be entered into in regard to that portion of the Normanby-Okai-awa road from the Hawera Electric Company's transformer to the county brrandaYy (which was in a very bad condition), that each body should contribute the sum of £17 10s towards the maintenance of a 10ft. formation, and that, afterwards, that the body which was found liable, should refund £17 10s. On the motion of Crs Winks and Duirs it was decided that the matter be left in the hands of the riding members and foreman.
