MEN'S SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Hodgson put up a world's record of smin 25 2-ssec, beating Hatfield (England) and Foster (England) in the semifinal of the 400 metres swimming, free style. Hardwick was first in the second heat, after a fine struggle with Lastorres (Hungary), in smin 31sec, Healy being third (smin 37sec), and Champion fourth. Thus Hodgson, Hatfield, Hard wick and Lastorres will compete in the final. Healy, as the fastest third, will also start.

Hebner (America) won the 100 metres back-stroke 'in Imin 21 1-osec. The Germans were second and third.

The King's representative visited Longworth, the Australian swimmer, who was taken ill.
