A TENTH MINISTER

[By Telegraph—Special to Star.] WELLINGTON, July 11. If the Government finds the constitutional position favorable it will add a tenth Minister to its Cabinet. All the paid positions are exhausted, but this would not be a difficulty if the tenth Minister could have full standing in the Cabinet. appointment would ease off some of the tension prevailing over the non-representation of geographical areas in the Cabinet. In this the South Island is worst off, and in the end Mr Massey will probably have to appoint his extra Minister from Dunedin. As MiMillar, owing .to ill-health, cannot take part in the country's administration for several months at least, he will not be given the position, and thus the claims of Mr G. M. Thomson, of Dunedin North, can scarcely be overlooked, Though comparatively young as a Parliamentarian, this would not be a bar in his case, for when he entered the House in 1908 he already possessed a reputation as scientist and educationist.
