(Received July 11, 1.30 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, July 10. A. Jackson (Britain) won the 1.500 metres running in 3min. 57sec, which is a world's record. Hill (New Zealand) did not qualify for the final. H. Kolehmaimen (Finland) won the 5,000 metres in 14mm. 36 3-ssec, a ■world's record. Hill was "fourth in his heat, and so did not qualify for the final. Hill retired in the tenth lap in his heat in the 10.000 metres race; and Murray (Australia) retired after 1% miles in the 10,000 meteres walk. Atkinson (New Zealand) qualified for the £nal in the 200 metres breast-stroke xace.

In the first round of the rowing Australia meets Gothenburg, Leander meets •Canada, and New College meats Norway.
