"BELLING THE CAT."
BY TECEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 10. At the Polcie Court to-day Ernest Kirehutz, aged 27, and Charles Murphy, aged 26, caught in the act of burglary at the Clarendon Hotel, pleaded guilty, and were committed to the Supreme j Court for sentence. Paul Eugene Scrim and Charles Grant were charged with burglary at the premises of three firms. Detective Marsack stated that when Scrim was in custody-he asked witness to make it as light as possible for him. as he had done the detective a good turn the previous night, when Grant, Relieving that the detective had identified him was going to shoot him. He (Scrim) prevented him doing so. Grant. • on being questioned on the matter, said it was the other way about —thatSerim : wanted to shoot, but was afraid, as it x would make too much, noise.
