The early morning train from Wane uui to Hawera was delayed to-day ow. ing to the piston-pipe of the locomo-> tive breaking when near Patea An engine attached to a goods train follow-, ing was sent for, and pushed the train into Patea. The disabled engine was uhen taken off and replaced by the re^ hef engine which took the train on to Hawera The other engine was returned to Wanganui.

The Rev. P. T. Fortune, vicar of Kongotea^ is at present in a private hospital at Palmerston, having undergone an operation for an internal trouble. He js progressing satisfactorily.
