'..FROM ODE OWN CORRESPONDENT.} I\ e l^ chre Party and dance held in the hall last week were not so well patronised as usual, the races at Hawera no doubt Keeping a few away. The prizes were won by Miss Hudson and Mr H io on Dancmg kept going tiJl iz.du p.nt. The annual social given by the local branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union m the hall last night was a distinct success, some 60 couples danoin«to the music of Mr and Mrs Beesley^ which was excellent. All present seemed to enjoy themselves, for the nondancers played cards, and I believe some good games were played. The committee has every reason to be well satisfied with the turn-out, the supper and floor being excellent. Extras were played by Misses Cleaver, Dale and Haseltine.foiano), and Mr W. J Cle^e (cornet). Messrs Dale and Marsh were efficient M.C.'s
