OPERA HOUSE.

THE NORWOODS. >-

The Opera House was again crowded last evening to witness the thii'd demonstration by Professor Norwood of his powers as a hypnotist and mental telepathist. The performance commenced with an exhibition of mental control. The professor had a list of musical items, some 25 in number. He asked members of the audience to select an item, and from the auditorium Professor Norwood conveyed the wish to Miss Pauline Ford, who was sitting at the piano on the stage. The first item chosen was the only sacred one on the list, "The Holy City," and the Professor experienced some difficulty in conveying the suggestion, as over naif a dozen other airs were played by Miss Ford before she commenced playing the one chosen. At a later stage, from the dress circle, Professor Norwood immediately transferred the suggestion for a repetition of this item, arid no-difficulty was experienced in regard to the other requests made. The "class" that assembled on the stage to enable the Professor to give illustrations of his mesmeric powers was composed mostly of persons well known in Hawera. As on the previous evening this part of the programme was the one that was most enjoyed by the audience. It was simply one long roar of laughter, so much so that on occasions it was impossible to hear the Professor's instructions to his "class." A number of tests were performed by Miss Norwood, but this part of the' programme could with advantage be considerably curtailed. Most people recognise the power of thought transference possessed by the Norwoods, and half a dozen tests are ample. Otherwise the "turn" becomes wearisome. Before the close of the performance Professor Norwood piaced a young man in a hypnotic sleep. He was then carried to Purser and Sons' shop m High street, and will remain there until this evening, when he will be taken back to the stage of the Opera House and awakened at the commencement of this evening's performance 10-iught is the last night of the season and Professor Norwood promises that it will also be the best. Before the close ot the performance last evening he said that "The Minstrel Show" was the very best item he had on his programme and he usually kept it for the «losin°entertainment. He said he could pr<£ mise his patrons that they would see something funnier than anything that nnd previously happened on the Opera TJ\p .fompany will appear at Manaia on Monday evening. :
