NELSON, May 16.

Mr H. G. Ell, Postmaster-General, has beer, visiting this district during the last two days, and has received deputations on departmental matters at Nelson and Richmond. The PostmasterGeneral, who is accompanied by Mr D. Robertson, secretary of the Post Office, leaves for Blenheim in the morning. THE MINISTER OF RAILWAYS. INVERCARGILL, May 16. Mr A. M. Myers (Minister of Railways) paid a flying visit to Invercargill to-day by special train, accompanied by Mr T. Ronayne (general manager), Mill. H. Jackson (locomotive engineer),Mr A. J. McCredie (district engineer"), Mr C. A. Piper (traffic superintendent), and Mr H. Mac Andrew (district engineer). The party inspected the Powellising plant at Kew, where the sleepers undergo a process. During the afternoon Mr Myers received a number of deputations* and in response to one from the Chamber of Commerce, announced that the new time-table for the Bluff section would come into operation on July 1.
