Several cases of scarlet fever are reported in Hawera and district. It is stated that there are more in the surrounding country than in Hawera itself, and that the available accommodation at the hospital being all taken up the position is somewhat serious. Some fresh cases were reported this morning. The district health officer is in Hawera to-day, on a special visit of enquiry and inspection.
