MINERS FAVOR ITS RETENTION
BY CABLE—PRESS ABBOCIATION-COPYBTGHT. SYDNEY, May 16. A ballot of the Broken Hill members of the Amalgamated Miners' Association, taken as to whether members were m favor qi retaining the Defence Act, resulted in 1,124 voting "yes" and 956 "no." t A proposal to pay the costs of members refusing to comply with the Act was overwhelmingly defeated.
