EDUCATIONAL MATTERS

HAMILTON, May 14. The local school committee last night passed the following resolution : "That the committee, while appreciating very highly the excellent work of some teachers arid schools throughout the dominion, regrets that the result generally attained is not such as to adequately equip boys and girls, for the battle of life, the syllabus being so overcrowded that some essential^ branches of education are not given attention, with tho result that arithmetic, writing, and reading are far from satisfactory." Reference was also made to the relation of the Education Board to the committees, and the Board's disregard of committees was resented.
