LONDON, May 13. Through Lord Mersey's award for tae .Northumberland Conciliation Board's- district being retrospective there is a windfall of £20,000 in aocumula'ted wages. :
The newspapers report a wave of indignant disapproval df the award.
Mr Straker, general secretary of the Union, complains that the award does not grant 'the "ss, which all parties considered was'a reasonable minimum. Tke presiaen't of the Union considered the minimum awarded iwas worth fighting for, :as it means a considerable advance to many underpaid "workers.
