ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE NORWOODS

On Wednesday afternoon, leaving the Post Office at 4 o'clock, Professor Nor- / wood will perform a blindfold hypnotic % drive. On Wednesday, Thursday and 'Friday evenings the Norwoods will appear at the Opera House. The Evening Post (Wellington) describing the entertainment, said, inter alia: "That curious phenomenon, the cataleptic state, was shown in a convincing manner, a member of Norwood's company supporting three men on his rigid body, beneath which there were no other supports than the backs of two chairs, one' under the shoulders and the other under the feet. A climax was reached when a party of half a dozen donned •gaudy attire and executed a Spanish waltz. The most convincing evidence ~ of Professor Norwood's power was provided by his associate, Miss Winifred

Norwood, who, while under the spell, and blindfolded^, obeyed the commands ■of different members of the audience, whose instructions were merely written in a notebook held by the professor, no word being spoken between him and his assistant. By this method several amusing tricks were played, including the transference of various articles from and to members of the audience, who were unknown to each other. With no other means of communication but the power of suggestive thought between the professor and Miss Norwood, she found an autograph book belonging to a lady in the audience, turned to a specified page, and there placed her signature." The box plan for the Hawera season 'opened this morning.
