A SWISS INJURED.

On Sunday morning a Swiss named Carl Schuker, working at Manaia, was admitted to the Hawera Hospital, suffering from concussion of the brain, caused by injuries to his head. It appears, from enquiries made, that the man with three others of his countrymen, left a friend's house on the Main South Road at eleven o'clock on Saturday night, and when a mile from Manaia met a drag conveying the footballers from Opunake to Hawera. The men with the driver on the box seat saw only two horsemen, who passed on their proper side, but a third man was seen lying on the road. The footballers got out and found the man "unconscious, with a large cut on the left side of his head. He was taken into Manaia and attended to by Dr. Milroy, who ordered the man's removal to the Hawera Hospital. His oondition was then considered to be serious. A Star reporter learned this morning that he has much improved. No one can account for the accident.
