BANK AMALGAMATION PROJECT

The pending merger of the Bank of Montreal and the Union Bank is reported, and afterwards the Bank of Montreal is likely to amalgamate with the Royal Bank of Canada. If this is consummated the merger will probably be the largest in the history of banking.
