CLOSED OYSTER BEDS.

A TRAWLER SEIZED

BY TELEGKA^H— PRESS ASSOCIATIOW.

AUCKLAND, May 10. 'A large trawling launch owned by John Endean and Maurice O'Connor, and valued at £800, was seized by the Fisheries Department in consequence of having aboard four, bags of oysters, the character of which denoted they had been taken from the closed beds at Waiheke. The launch at the time was on a fishing excursion, and 12 or 13 persons were aboard. The master of the vessel denied knowledge that any oysters had been brought aboard. The Magistrate said he would impose a fine of £6, sufficient to enable the owners to take the case to a higher court if desired.
