' - DUNEDIN, May 9, In regard to the dispute at Christie's time at Green Island, a meeting of rebjsentatives of the Freeman's and nilee Coal Companies was held this
Hfbfernoon, when each company agreed Ifeo (take on seven out of the 17 men on Ktrike, leaving three men, who, it was Ibated, would be at once taken on by Christie's at the new pit. A letter to this effect was submitted to a meeting of the men at Fairneld to-night, when it was unanimously decided to agree to the terms of the letter and start work .at once. At a late hour to-night, kow«rer Mr James Christie stated that he ■»-as 'no party to the meeting in the .afternoon, and would employ none of the strikers unless the strike was declared off. Wha£ effect this will have <»n the position it is difficult to say.
