On Saturday evening a number of townspeople assembled at the Waimate Hotel to bid farewell to Mr C,. R. Lusher, who is leaving for Pukekohe. Mr Bennett occupied the chair; and remarked that he had* knpwh Mr Lusher for a good, many years, and had a very high opinion of him. The speaker expressed much regret that Mr Lusher had decided to leave Manaia, and read an address, which recounted Mr Lusher^s services to the town and district, and referred to his connection with the Waimate Football Club, Rifle Club/Horticultural Society, Tradesmen's Association, and the art of swimming, etc. Mr Lusher was also presented with a purse of sovereigns, and his health was drunk by the company. Mr Lusher replied*in feeling terms.
