The animal general meeting of subscribers to the Public Hall was held on Saturday evening, where there was a fair attendance. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £15 7s 3d. The following comnuttee was elected: Messrs W. Lambie Riley, Barlow, Harrop, W Stevenson S. Forsyth, M. Horgan, and Mason It is the intention of the committee to go into the question of lighting the hail with acetylene gas. A meeting of the Athletic Club was held the same evening. The balancesheet in connection with the last sports showed a deficiency of about £6 10s. The club decided to run euchre parties again this winter, the first one to be held on Friday, May 10.
The Pihama Co-operative Dairy Company has decided to manufacture casein m conjunction with butter, next season' and steps are being taken to instal the necessary plant. I understand that several of the directors visited Wanganui for the purpose of investigating the working of casein, and are quite satisfied that it will pay handsomely to, manufacture.
The tennis dance held on Wednesday last was yery enjoyable. Mr Slatters supplied the music. Mr A. Stevenson acted as M.C. The ladies provided the supper, and the floor was in capital order.
It is the intention of the bachelors to give a dance at the end of the month, in return to the ladies' dance given some time ago. The ladies, out of the surplus from their dance, bought a large mirror, and presented it to the Hall Committee for the ladies' dressing-rodln. - This thoughtfulness was much appreciated by the committee.
