SHORTAGE OF CHEESE.

According to the advices received by mail by Mr C. H. Buckeridge, representative of Messrs Lane and Co., London, there is a great shortage of cheese in England, with exceptionally high prices for English cheddar. The firm state that they know of some leading English cheese factors who will only sell fancy English makes sparingly at 90s, and they expect to get 100s between now and Christmas. The report further states that the stock of Canadian cheese on the markets in Liverpool, Bristol, and London on October 1 was 100,000 crates \less than on the Corresponding date last year. This was the lowest stock held for at least ten years.
