EXPERTO CREDE

(To the Editor.1*

Sir, —Mr Pearce . has fallen in this time about the present Government. On Saturday at Manutahi he repeated his old cry concerning the interest per head on the loan. Mr Pearce was asked if 'f'/'as prepared to give the sum of A-W to any charitable institution against the £50 for the same purpose of the other contending candidate if he could compare his (Mr Pearce's) with Mr O JJea s figures, and come out correct. As we expected, Mr Pearce's answer was that he (Mr Pearce) would lose his money, thus exposing his own statements as inaccuracies. From this we can judge the stability of his and most of the Opposition concerning the Gov- [ ernment policy. We all know the present Government is not perfect, and one or two Ministers would be better filling less responsible positions, but in the Government as a whole we have perfect confidence. There are faults, too, but considering the difficulties of a progressive colony like New Zealand, it has aone its level best for farmers especially and all olasses of the population. I think one management of the colony's finances ■ s in the most capable hands, and the present Premier deserves great credit tor the admirable clear-headedness shown in all financial dealings for the benefit of New Zealand. Did the Opposition bring about the universal penny stamp postage? No; I think Mr Pearce is an excellent man as a councillor or any other unimportant place, but when it comes to representing the people he i* a little out of his depth, and seeing >.c has proved he. cannot swim, it it n ore than likely he will drown LABOR OMNIA VINCIT. P.S.—I am told you will not print this letter, as it is a criticism of the Opposition member, but I sincerely hope your paper i s not so partial, as most l oi J o . subscribers are not prejudiced
