NEW BUILDING.

Messrs Welsh, McCarthy and Caplen, barristers and solicitors, on Wednesday removed into their new offices, a brick building just erected opposite the Borough Council Chambers. The new building has a frontage on High of 36 feet and extends back for a distance of 56 feet. The walls are 14 inches in thickness and are faced with concrete in imitation blocks. In all there are seven rooms, exclusive of the strong room, and a lumber room at the back. The building outside and in has been well finished and the business of the firm will in future be carTied on under very convenient conditions. On entering one finds himself in a large corridor 8 feet wide, narrowing down to 5 feet at the extreme end of the building. On the left is the public office 12 feet by 14 feet, and opposite on the right Mr McCarthy occupies a room, Mr Welsh being on the same side farther back. As there is a staff of 12 apart from the principals, every room will be brought into requisition and one room has been set apart as a library. Each room is provided with a fire place; is nicely furnished and provided with all office requisites. Mr Pacey was both architect and builder and he has done himself credit in both capacities. The total cost is expected to be £1400.
