FIFTY THOUSAND PERSONS AT FUNERAL.
BY TELE"BAPH—PBESS ASSOCIATION,
CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. Mr Taylor's funeral yesterday was a remarkable demonstration of sympathy and affection. The whole route from the Council Chamber to the cemetery was lined by crowds. In no place were ■the people less than two deep, and at particular points they were twenty deep. It is estimated that there were 50,000 people in the streets. People -drove in from the country in hundreds. Ti is doubtful if such another funeral lias ever been seen in New Zealand. Certainly it was nnparalleled so far as Christchurch is concerned..
