[FROM OUB OWN COEEESPONDENT.] The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Tuesday evening, Commissioners Guy (chairman), Betts, Death, Melville and Mills being present. .-'■.•■■■ :\ ■■.■■■■,' CORRESPONDENCE. *', From Minister for Internal- Affairs with regard to Coronation subsidy.— Resolved that application be made for the sum offered, £75, to be devoted to erecting as a Coronation memorial a public library and reading room on the land adjacent to the Town Hall. Two communications from the Eltham county with regard to the Town Board's £2000 loan.—Received, From Methodist Church Trustees requesting that the Board clear the trees trom Kapuni road.—Resolved that foreman be instructed to top same in the meantime. y ' The need for further J's.P. in the town was again commented upon. The Department of Justice wrote to the effect that further appointments were being considered; The Clerk was instructed to again write and draw the Department's attention to the urgency of the matter. Mr Climie advised, that he had returned to the district, and would meet the Board on any date suggested.— Left to Clerk to arrange a meeting. The Clerk was instructed to give the Hawera Electric Lighting Company the information they desired with regard to extending their system to this town. Five were received for the position of foreman vice Mr Herbert resigned.—After due consideration it was decided to accept the services of Mr A. J. Porteous, duties to commence as soon as possible. The Clerk was directed to write to Mr C. S. Walker forbidding the removal by him of any more soil from the cutting adjacent to his property. Agreed that the Board would be prepared to act as trustees for any donations towards the O'Connor relief fund. Foreman reported on the work done during the month. On a suggestion by the foreman, it was agreed to write all property owners whose hedges and trees were keeping the sun off the roads to have the growth removed or cut back. The gassing of accounts concluded the meeting.
