The adjourned meeting of householders in the Whakamara school district was held in the school on Monday,, the 12th in#k. The night appointed for the usual annual meeting turned out such a bad one that only one householder (the chairman) put in an appearance. At the second meeting about a dozen attended when the report warn adopted and the balance sheet showing a small amount to the credit, duly audited, by Mr Turton, of Hawera, was passed. The result of the election of a committee for the ensuing year was as follows: O. Crawford, G. Blackwell. S. Godsby, A. Godsby, >G. McCallum. Appreciative remarks were passed by some of those present on the efficient manner in which the affairs of the school had been conducted by Mrs Anthony, the teacher. A vote of thanks to the retiring' chairman and committee brought the meeting to a close. At the meeting of committee held immediately after, Mr O. Crawford was chosen chairman for the coming year. The school children are being pmt through a course of training in anticipation of the coronation of King George At this season oif ■ the year usually grej>i, changes takes place in property here, and this season is no exception to the rule. Messrs Campbell and Sons have sold their large sheep run, and are leaving for Patea at the beginning of July, Mr -Honeyfield being the purchaser. Mr Fraser has also sold his milking farm. Mr Wyatt takes his departure for Waverley this week, and a good many other farms are in the market, so we may expect more changes.
