OPUNAKE.

[PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] In yesterday's issue it was reported that Mr Dudley offered a cup in connection with the Western Division Hockey Association. The name was incorrectly printed and should have been Mr Dave Duncan, the Association president. On Tuesday evening a presentation of a travelling companion was made to Mr John Faereh at ConnelPs hotel. Mr Faereh, who for the past four years has been in the employ of the local dairy company, is going for a trip to his home in Denmark. IVIr R. ODea (manager) on behalf of the employees, made the presentation, alluding to Mr Faereh's good * qualities as a co-oworker. Mr Faereh thanked the donors and suitably responded. At the ordinary meeting of the Town Board held on Thursday evening, there were present Messrs Ross (acting chairman), Trotter, Mullon and Mildenhall. Mr C. S. Strange applied for lease of section in Fox street for 21 years at 30s. Board could onlyr agree to usual terms, viz., £2 per annum or upset rental of £2 10s for 21 years. Messrs Hickey and Vickery's tender for crushed metal at 6s lOd per yard was accepted, for 250 yards, on Domett street from Layard to Havelock street. It was decided to telegraph to Mr Dive, M.P., to convey the Board's gratitude to the Minister on his decision to come to Opunake.
