CHURCH AFFAIRS.

THE COMMUNION SERVICE AMENDED. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. LONDON, May 5. By two to one, the Lower House of the Convocation of Canterbury agreed that celebrants, with the Bishop's consent, may, after once using the full words at the administration, subsequently use the first half of the words to each individual. It also adopted a new rubric permitting the consecrated elements to be taken from open Communion to sick persons in their homes. The House of Laymen proposed not to touch the Prayer Book, but suggested an appendix of special services. In Convocation, the Bishop of Winchester raised an urgency debate upon the Bishop of Hereford's invitation to Nonconformists to join in the Coronation Communion in Hereford Cathedral. The Bishop of Hereford defended himself. The Archbishop disapproved of his action. The subject was dropped. The Lower House, however, hotly discussed the subject.
