James Bryce, British Ambassador in America, who is visiting Earl Grey, declared that satisfactory progress had been made, and President Taft was much gratified with , Great Britain's reception of the proposals. The Ambassador refused to discuss the reciprocity scheme, stating that America had ,not made it a party question to the extent that the Canadians had. He hoped that AngloAmerican arbitration would prove a lesson to the whole world.
