TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOtf SALE. Mr Newton King reports : — On Tuesday, October 25, I held my usual fourweekly sale of above produce. The catalogue comprised 13 bales and 61 sacks wool, 3110 sheepskins, 18 casks and 29 tins tallow, 1287 hides and 6439 calfskins, as well as the usual assortment of horsehair, cowtails, bones, etc. There was a good ( attendance of buyers and competition was keen throughout. Wool — My catalogue was small, but what little there was sold well at late rates. In sympathy with other markets dry sheepskins were $d lower, but green skins about held their own. Average butcher cow hides were on a par with late rates. Superior cow were easier, while ox hides advanced £d .per lb. Calfskins sold well at late rates. Tallow advanced 5s per ton.
