GRAHAME-WHITE'S ESCAPE. •BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT. NEW YORK, Nov. 1. Johnstone established a world's alti*tude record of 9714 feet. Grahame-White has challenged Mois:sant, who on Sunday won £2000 for rounding the statue of Liberty,. The challenge was refused. Grahame-White's propellor snapped at the close of the speed test, and his monoplane turned over. Grahame-White was taken out uninjured. He was declared the winner. Moissant won the distance race, ■covering 87£ miles in two hours.
NEW YORK, Nov. 1. Drexel issues a protest against the Aero Club's ruling prohibiting Moissant and Grahame-White having a ■second trial in the statue of Liberty flight. Drexel declares that he is disgusted at the spirit of American sportsmanship, and that the committee went "back on their word in order to give the prize to an American.'
