ENTERTAINMENTS,
TAYLOR-CARRINGTON PICTUREDRAMA. The Opera House was crowded on Tuesday evening, when a cinematograph* entertainment was presented under the Taylor-Carrington management, the great attraction being the noted picturedrama, "For the Term of His Natural Life." To those familiar with Marcus Clarke's graphic story there was doubtless a startling vividness associated with its pourtrayal by means of living pictures. Indeed, the various absorbing incidents of the story were faithfully and powerfully set forth, the dramatisation having been carried out with marked success. In addition to the star film there was also a good range of other s-übjectt;, and on -tjhe whole tbe programme certain'y deserved the appreciation shown by the audience The pictures have not been excelled in Hawera for clearness, being shown with a very powerful light Science and industrial subjects were therefore seen to advantage and consequently were much enjoyed. In fact the outstanding feature of the entertainment was ,the brilliancy that accompanied the projections as they were thrown on the screen. Scenes in Colombo (Ceylon) and a film that explained -ttie processes of sugar manufacture proved very interesting. " The comic series lacked nothing in the way of entertainment*, the closing one in particular being a side-splitter. Without a doubt the audience thoroughly enjoyed the programme.
