A BURGLAR FOILED.

TELL-TALE PANE OF GLASS. BY CABLE — PRESS ASSOCIATION — COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 31, 11.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 31. After an exciting search amongst the roofs, the police arrested a man named King, who was hidden in a heap of rubbish in the Gaunt Company's jewellery warehouse. According to the man's story he secreted himself in the London Supply Stores, and thence (after a fruitless attempt to open the safe, which he partly forced) he made his way to Gaunt's. ' The accidental breaking of a pane of glass roused the caretaker, who brought the police. King has been only a few months in Australia. He claims a remarkable career for burglary in England and America.
