BY CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT PARIS, Oct. 15.

The railwaymen are gradually resuming work. A number of sporadic movements are noticeable in other trades in sympathy with the railwaymen, but these are not disquieting in the face of the firmness of the Government.

Troops dispersed a gathering of 15,000 builders and navvies who were agitating for a nine-hours' day and present pay.

A few harmless shots were fired.

The masons and bricklayers of Paris have struck. The police stopped the processions and a conflict ensued. Missiles injured several of the police and .some of the rioters were hurt.

M. Briand, the Prime Minister, has smashed the strike. -
