ALLAN SPECIALLY SUITABLE FOR DRIVING MILKING MACHINE. fnr " ALLAN> ' OIL ENGINE has now been in the market ror thirteen years, during which time it has been used for all classes of work, and put through the most severe tests in all parts of the world, and has proved itself to be one of the simplest, most easily managed durable, economical, and reliable motors ot the day Up to date we have not had to remove a single engine for being unequal to guarantee or unfit for the work undertaken, fhis record we believe to be unique, and intending purchasers may feel assured our effort will be to maintain this record unbroken. The experience gained has enabled us to make many improvements, and the latest type -of "ALLAN" will be round to hayo exceptionally large wearing surfaces, and to be ' cm ™r ™£ sultable f or hard, continuous running. . OJL-FELD.— Particularly strong attention is directed to our improved suction oil-feed, which after ten years' regular use we consider to be a vast improvement over the air-tight gravity feed previously used With the suction feed the oil is under no pressure ot any sort, and it is impossible to flood the vaporiser and prevent starting, and no dangerous leakage is possible while the engine is at rest as with the gravity feed. CONSUMPTION.— With engines under test at our works, and using ordinary petroleum, the consumption of oil in the largest sizes is three-fourths of a pint per brake horse-power per hour, and about one pint in the smaller sizes. When not working at tull power, the total consumption is in proportion to the work sp <? ed - is , maint ained under varying loads. MANAGEMENT.— SpeciaI attention is drawn to the fact that this engine was designed to be as simple as possible, combined with the highest economical result, and its extreme simplicity of construction, -and the easy accessibility to all working parts, render it an engine specially suitable for dairymen and readily understood and managed even by the most unskilled persons.
