MORRIS TUBE CLUB.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The annual meeting of the above club was held in the reading room on Monday evening, when there was a good attendance of members. Mr G. Meredith was voted to the chair. The bal-ance-sheet was presented by the Treasurer, Mr F. Hunger, and showed a deficiency for the year of £1 10s Bd. The principal items were: — Receipts: Cash in hand from last year £4 Bs, donations £6 12s 6d, sale of ammunition £6. Expenditure: Prizes £10 6s, ammunition £8 Bs, rifle and tube £4 16s ; rent £2. Members generally expressed regret that there was a debit balance, but under the circumstances considered that the club had done well, the club having "had to purchase a new rifle and tube this year. The balancesheet was adopted. A letter was received from Mr "W. Griffiths, of Toko (the first captain of the club), thanking the members for the handsome present (a silver teapot) they had given him on his leaving Normanby. It would often bring back to memory many enjoyable evenings spent at the club, ard he honed some day xo be again able to join them. The following officers were appointed : Patron, Mr G. V. Pearce, M.P. ; President, Mr A. Alexander; Vice-Presi-dents, Messrs J. Forbes, E. J. Shrimpton, J. J. Connell, E. Massey, R. J. Linn, H. Lysaght, H. McKoy, A. Richardson^ F.* Andrews; captain, F. Meredith; vice-captain, W. Pollock; secretary, L. Bell ; handicapper, F. Riddle.

It was decided to hav^ sealed handicaps this season. Cadets and Boy Scouts are to be admitted members on payment of a subscription of 2s 6d, and will be allowed to shoot at the range on the usual shooting nights,, Monday and Thursday. About twenty members were proposed, and it is anticipated that the coming season will be a successful one.

Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers, givers of special prizes and the ladies. It was decided to open the season on Monday next, the 30th inst.

The following were the principal prize-winners last season: — Mr G. V. Peace's, M.P. (medal), W. Bell; Mr Morris' medal, J. Lloyd; Mr A. Alexander's medal, W. Walker; Mr Richardson's lamp, L. Bell; cruet stand, F. Riddle: aggregate — Ist, F. Riddle, 325; 2nd, F. Meredith, 321; 3rd, W. Walker, 318. The Secretary reported that abouT 10,000 rounds of ammunition had been used last season.
