Wanganui J.C. winter meeting opened to-day with a large attendance. The tracks are in good order, There is a coll westerly wind blowing and rain threatening. Nineteen bookmakers are lionised. Sir Lethe jumped over the first hurdle in the lead, but also cleared ever the rail on to the wrong track, and had to be pulled up. Lovell took the lead and maintained that position unt : the last jump, where Jack Pot went to the front and won by two lengths, Oryx close up third. Mocassin and Pharos broke down. Bullworth's sadrf.e slipped. Time, 6.7-2-5. ' A protest against Jack Pot for boring Lovell in the Steeplechase was disallowed.

Electric Hack — Faunus 1, Golden Loop 2, Voca 3 Scratched: Stourton. Faunus led all the way and won by over a lengtli, with Voca a fair third. Time, 1.16 1-5. Kaitoke Hack Hurdles — Merry Lawn 1, Nightmare 2, Pikopo 3. Scratched: Woolloomooloo. Nightmare led to the straight, where Merry Lawn took command and won by three lengths, a similar distance between second and third. Time, 3.17 2-5.
