ANGLO-JAPANESE EXHIBITION.
OPENED WITHOUT CEREMONY.
JAPANESE WONDERLAND.
[press association.]
LONDON, May 15.
The Anglo-Japanese Exhibition was opened without ceremony by Prince Fushimi.
Several hundreds of workmen completed the preparations yesterday. The exhibits include extraordinary illustrations of Japanese wonderland, including scenery representing the four seasons. , There is a beautiful model of the Temple of Miyajima and specimens of superb architecture and carvings covering twenty-five centuries of art and national history. There are splendid national art treasures sent by the Mikado. Among the surprises of the exhibition is a section for Japanese women's work.
The newspapers are enthusiastic over the unique spectacle, noting every portion of the Japanese section, all agreeing that it is wonderfully clever and picturesque. There are two thousand private Japanese exhibitors.
