N.Z. MINISTERS AND OTHERS RE-SWORN.
WELLINGTON, May 13. All the members of the Government, except the Hon. T. McKenzie (who is absent from Wellington), were re-sworn to-day by His Excellency the Governor. The' Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) and Mr Justice Chapman also took the oath of allegiance to King George, and His Excellency was in turn re-sworn by the Chief Justice.
In reply to the Mayor respecting the joint memorial service in Hawera the Very Rev. Father Power has written saying: — "Comnmnicatio in divinis with non-Catholics is forbidden to Catholics by a fundamental principle of Catholic teaching which binds us here in New Zealand as it binds the Supreme Pontiff himself ; therefore I regret I have to say that Catholics ca.inot take part in the proposed genet al religious service. With regard to the form which our prayers at St. Joseph's will take on Sunday and the day of the funeral, I am awaiting Instructions from His- Grace the Archbishop ' i Wellington, which will probably be :nn lar to those issued to English Cathahcs by the Archbishop of Westaiinster."
