He has figured so prominently on our hockey fields 'n Wellington during recent years that there iB likely to be a large-sized tangi over his departure. Mr Elliott qualified with the hockey stick up in Taraaaki, playing for the rep. team in big events, and with the Hawera Club in small stakes. When hfe migrated to Wellington, about six years ago; he soon became part of the Wellington hockey machinery. "L. A." was Uniteds' "inside-right" and "centre forward" for the hist half-dozen years, and earned the centre-forward position in Wellington's rep. team which wrenched the champion shield away from Auckland last fall. A quiet, modest, manly-looking chap, young Elliott is sure to get on quickly in Feilding. At any rate, he'll take with him loads of good wishes from Wellington friends. ' Mr J. Larmer, formerly on the statt of the MoumahaM State Farm, was, prior to his leaving for the South Island, presented with a purse of sovereigns, a gift 'from his Waverley and Moumahaki friends. Mr W. E. Long, of Onehunga, has been awarded a first year certificate, and Mr H. B. Long a full dairy certificate, at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College (Australia). These gentlemen are sons of Mr F. Long, who was for a - number of years postmaster at Patea.
