CREW ALL NIGHT IN THE RIGGING. EXPERIENCE A FEARFUL TIME, [PRESS -ABBOOUTION.I SYDNEY,' May 9. The Norwegian barque Ilala, wheatladen from South Australia to the English Channel, put in in distress. j She encountered a terrific storm 300 miles south-east of Tasmania on April 23 1 and was thrown on her beam ends. The crew took to the rigging, while enormous seas pounded 1 the vessel furiously. Everything movable was swept away, and the seas threatened to engulf her. The sea flooded the after part of the vessel, but it is believed did not get at the cargo. All night the crew clung to the gingAt daylight the crisis came. A mountainous sea curled down on the vessel and broke over her as high as the' main yard and washed right over the crew in the rigging. The men, however, came through safely, although the boats were washed away. After this the weather moderated, and the vessel was brought to Sydney for repairs:
