Mitchell's Burnbank farm on Wednesday. The weather was fine, but a cold wind interfered somewhat with the comfort of patrons. The attendance was not quite up to that of previous years. Good fields faced the starter in the various events, the deciding of which produced interesting sport. Five bookmakers plied their calling, which they undoubtedly found a lucrative otte. Some hot favorites in The Quiver, Contralto and Apollinaris (who won a race earlier in the afternoon) went under to the discomfiture of puntors. The fixture was of a successful order. Officials capably discharged their respective duties. None of the 'finishes of the races was very close, so that no great excitement was in evidence. With two wins and three seconds Nodder, the jockey, put up a good performance, but in view of there being no tote seconds were no good to punters. Manaia Municipal Band delighted patrons with their programme of music. Results are as follow: — FLYING HANDICAP, Of 25 soys. -, second horso to receive £5; six furlongs. Mr S.
