LONDON, April 8. The Newcastle liner Cavinront, bound for America with nine hundred Russian Armenians aboard, discovered that the coal bunkers were afire oft" Beachy Head. An explosion blew the hatch off, injuring twenty men. A panic followed. Many men attempted to rush the women's boats, breaking one woman's spine. The British crew, using determined measures, prevented a disaster. They knocked men down right and left. Four Armenians jumped overboard, but were rescued. Finally all were transferred to other steamers. Prince and Princes/s Louis of Battenberg personally served food to the famished people landing at Dover pier.
