AUSTRALIA v. MANAWATU.

[press association.] PALMERSTON N., March 17. There is beautiful weather this morning for the continuation of the Australia v. Manawatu match. Kelleway and Emery opened on a perfect wicket to Cobbe and Green. The former bow.ler scattered Emery's stumps before the score opened, and when only 2 runs were added Smith, who filled the vacancy, was clean bowled by Cobbe. 51—5—2. Smith (?) followed and sent Cobbe to the boundary, and another three brought 60 up. The Smith-Kelleway partnership soon put on runs, and brought up the century in half an hour, Smith scoring rapidly off- all the bowling. With 142 up Holland scattered Kelleway's stumps. The retiring batsmen had made 48, mostly from singles. Bardsley filled the vacancy, and opened by putting Holland into the pavilion. Both batsmen scored rapidly, and the second century appeared at 12.30, though numerous changes were tried in the bowling. Smith got his century and hoisted 250. Then his end came, by getting his leg in front to Greer. 1 His 107 included 8 sixes, 6 fours. 264—7—107.
