ANNUAL MEETING FOOTBALL CLUB.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Football Club was held on Tuesday evening, when there was a very good attendance. Mr A. Lees was voted to the chair. The Secretary (Mr' W. A. Carroll) read the report and balance-sheet. The report dealt with the affairs of the club during the past season. Last year it was found impossible to raise a senior team, and the club was in danger of losing their district, but thanks to the good work of Messrs O' Sullivan and Crowley, the Union allowed them to retain it, the senior players throwing in their lot with Kaponga, and the juniors forming a team known as Kaponga B. The latter were successful lin winning the southern division, but lost in the play-off with Eltham. The jclub would have a first-class ground to play on this season in Joll Park. The ! balance-sheet showed a slight loss on ithe year's working, but with the balance from previous year the funds were I still in credit to the amount of see 1 10s 2d. j The . report and. balance-sheet were adopted. I The Chairman said the next business was to consider ways and means for carrying on business for the ensuing year. It was for those present to ■ decide • whether they were going to 'carry on or not. I Mr Jas. • O'Sullivan said the Union had allowed them to retain their disjtrict- last season, but unless they enItered a senior team this year their district would go. The question was, Could we raise a team? He thought we could, althoughj perhaps, it would not be a strong one. He urged the young players to come out. Mr N. Crocker was strongly in favor of entering a team. Last season half the Kaponga team was composed of j Okaiawa players, and he was sure with j the inclusion of some young players a .very fair team could be raised. Mr O'Sullivan said if our district were merged into Waimate it was improbable that any of the our players would be picked for their senior team. Eventually, upon the motion of Messrs N. Crocker and Lynskey, it was unanimously decided to enter a senior team. The election of officers was then proceeded with:— President, Mr F. McGuire; vice-presidents, Messrs McKenzie, Macp, A. Lees, F. A. Bremer, J. Bailey, G. Betts, TV. A. Carroll, T. Wells, E. 0. Chivers, Lyall, W. Ross, Clarke, Kaarere, Groves.- J. Heslop, R. j Johnstone, J. Barber, J. B. Murdoch and A. Nielson ; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Mace ; general committee, Messrs A. Lees, Millan, N. | Crocker, Waldorf and Roberts; club captain, Mr J. Crowley ; selection committee, Messrs Lees and Wells, to act in conjunction with captain of each team : delegates to Union, Messrs Jas. O'Sullivan and J. Crowley. The question of ground and first pm ctice was left to the general committee. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. It was decided to enter two teams for the cup competitions. It was decided to give notice of motion to the Utfion thnt there be a better distribution of districts next season. On the motion of Messrs Crowley nnd Lees it was decided that the valuable services of the retiring secretary °"d treasurer, Mr W. A. Carroll, be placed on record, the movers speakiiio; in eulogistic terms of the manner in which he had carried out his duties. — Mr Carroll suitably replied. The following new members were elected: — Messrs Millan, A. Nielson, Workman, Mather. Willis, A. Paterson, E Luxlon, McCallum, J. Smyllie, McLeod. Thp Secretary of the Kaponea Club attended and placed the position of his club before the meeting for the benefit of thosp who were members of the Kaponga Club last year, and was nccorded a hearty vote of thanks for his trouble. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded a very successful meeting.
