A meeting in Broken Hill TWn Hall, called t>y the Socialist group, to protest against fostering tho military spirit, led to a. strong counter-demon-stration ending in a fre© fight and the interference of the police. The voices- of the speakers were drowned by thei noasei and the singing of patriotic songs. The furniture and fittings of the hall suffered considerably during tha rough and tumble. When order had been restored the counter demonstrators carried a resolution favoring the defence, movement for the citizen, soldier.
